The Dark Lord and the Runesword Version II

(Have you ever read “The Sword of Shannara”?
It won’t do you a damn bit of good here.)

Once upon a time, a Dark Lord had a cursed runesword which killed her.

It wasn’t that good a story even if you were there, to be honest.

_____

p.s..

…it was the Runeswords she’d made, too, which delayed her return as a Lich by centuries. (Granted, they were centuries in which the Civilizations grew fat and gained the bounty of the land, and she oft said she’d gone into an enchanted slumber, that she need not live through the lean times, but could exert over the bounty.)

(The Runesword, however, bragged incessantly about her death.

She couldn’t have that, so she bound it in the darkest, dankest oubliette–that is, a hole into which you throw people, then forget about them.

She had forgotten she’d placed a Hero in there.

This was how, not more than a year later, she was dead, her body on a pyre, her magical soul imprisoned by magic from the Hero’s true love.

Never piss off your own Sentient Sword of Vengeance: The life you take may be your own.
