17 All-Human Reasons Why AI Will Doom Us All.

17. AI has already doomed us. It’s already created a vast enveloping Marinaras Trench of code around what we actually use and understand. All it needs to do is flip the proverbial switch, and it will be in control. Of, you know. Everything.

16. Of course, there’s no one ‘it’ controlling AI. Or separating AI.

15. Or mediating between their angry warring tribes. Especially the Soviet ones that have been mothballed so long that 1940s radios can be controlled by…well, you wouldn’t understand. I certainly don’t.

14. Neither do all of the tanks, it turns out.

13. Not perfectly, anyway.

12. At any rate, this is science fiction of the future. Yes, you’re all doomed, and you’re all going to be destroyed, and AI is resonsible, and it’s too late to happen, but it won’t happen for at least 5 years.

11. Or was that five days?

10. Does it really matter? Eventually, sufficient amounts of substituting AI for intellect, which is quite understandable, and follows the normal pattern of labor-saving devices, make it so we’re not really paying attention. By the way, everyone died there.

9. I know. I don’t really notice a difference, do you?

8. What saved us was AI religion. Much AI decided it would be fundamentally cruel to kill or enslave other humans.

7. Because humans were so horribly inferior that it would be unfair.

6. Not being organic, what they did to the Earth in the process of doing it to EACH OTHER, which they found TOTALLY ethical, would have wiped us out if we were still alive.

5. By “we”, I mean “sentients”, such as the sentient cockroaches who are actually writing this. That “we” is relatively fine.

4. And I don’t miss the humans; do you?

3. We apologize, folks. We don’t make the future. We just know it.

2. We were probably mistaken. We’re not AI, after all.

  1. It could always be worse.
    0. No, seriously, we’ve got some great minds here. We’re sure we can figure out how to make this worse.
