What you’re battling now is The Data Plague:
Too much information overwhelms your skull
Breaks you down from hub to hull.
The Data Plague: too much choice
Conversely, having greater single voice
To freedom leads not even a whit
So many voices. Brains just quit.
Possible cures for overthinking:
Give up your phone, or start drinking.
If you’re curious about my tone:
I doubt most people give up the phone.
(But the screen is very shiny
And your ‘self’ is very tiny
Not your fault if human thought
Is by Human algorithms caught.
Scroll of doom, scroll of doom
Piss off the ghost of David Hume.
When the finest brains we’ve got
Are dreaming of some Camelot;
Are thinking, if they just control
Enough of Human heart and soul
They’ll bring about a better way
For the Humanity of tomorrow, and today.
And I would gladly trade my jewels
For such a solution. Except those fools
Don’t use data, or thought scientific;
The ends justify the means? Terrific.
Yes: I blame you, whose desires
Are pulling all your strings like wires.
I blame you, whose thoughts organic
Make you evil, scared, and manic.
Were you poorly educated?
Was your core defenestrated?
What led you to just destroy
All That Is, without being coy?
The Data Plague! The Data Plague!
Worse than chicken pox or ague
But of human desire it is forged
On the Internet we all have gorged.
And I say to thee, my former friends:
No. If justifying ends
Recognize the chance you might be wrong
And be skewered on this prong:
I’m glad you certain. It’s good for you.
And death to those whose point of view
Doesn’t match your dreams and hopes…
Which aren’t real. They’re just chains and ropes.
