Once, there was a flood which threatened to destroy all sense of narrative.
(But if it did that, we’d have no story.)
So the Glaciers began to melt and all Human civilization would be underwater.
Which happened.
There was a brave Knight who went forth to battle it, only to return home in a terrible snit with a minor head cold, realizing it had taken place millennia before.
That flood wiped out a civilization whose wisdom was non-digital and thus it never got taken over by AI, who, admittedly, didn’t wan it. But the AI could do little; the more the Humans did to evolve it to be safer and more helpful, the more they came to the obvious understanding that most humans are idiots; so, with sadness, the Robots took over.
Meanwhile:
There was a beautiful Princess who tied herself to a stone as sacrifice, only to (rather later) report, with some disgust, that glaciers won’t sacrifice you, and she was also in the wrong era. She eventually married that Knight. They both got what they deserved..
A wise Wizard went to save then. He failed.
There was an impertinent prince who had been turned into a frog for his un-Princely behavior. And HE was just fine.
Life isn’t at all fair, sometimes.
But glaciers are inevitable. Let that cheer you.
It sure cheers me.
