If you ever consider a Roc
Might be a sort-of convenient dock;
That the right bribe of raw flesh
Might with its motives mesh:
The Roc is wise;
They could even write books
If they thought the intelligent
Weren’t blighted hooks;
The farther you get
From “Stalk, kill, eat”
Is (honestly)
“let’s have inferior meat”.
Let others evolve
And grow a big brain
And try to stay
Even vaguely sane.
Rocs have wings the size of boats;
Rocs have instinct as warming coats;
Rocs could try for sentience,
But they realize this leaves no suspense:
The smarter you are, the more you perceive
That the World resembles what you believe
You feel smart because you interact…
But you think like a fool compared to those who react.
Overthinking? Never say “when”;
Does the wise with adrenaline
It makes them bitter on the tongue,
But it sure invigorates your young.
Kings are food. Wizards, sure.
Knight. Princess. Peasant. Whore.
The Roc could think, if it really chose.
But it’s not that stupid.
So let the subject close.
