We Hate This Book

A Letter To The Editors:

Dear Editorial Staff:

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book I liked less.

I don’t think I’ve ever hated a book with this much passion. I’ve had books I couldn’t read. I’ve had books I didn’t want to read. I theorize someone could write a cruel and lying book about me, and I would hate it.

I still wouldn’t hate it as much as this book.

Nevertheless…

…what the HELL happens next?

I feel this must be going somewhere. No-one simply writes random Villainy to create more Villainy in the World. No-one so much despises those who believe themselves to be full of Light that they’d write an entire book of darkness, and if they did, they’d realize they’re only writing a pale imitation of Mary Shelley, or classic horror, or great science fiction. “Nightfall” (the original Asimov short story, not the oddly clumsy novel adaptation) beats every story in here by a country mile, and I’m told those are far longer than regular miles, although how that works, I don’t have a clue. “Stand On Zanzibar” is better. “Smoke and Mirrors” is better. “A Blink Of The Screen” is better. “More Tales Of Judge Ooka” is a perfectly real book, and yes…it’s better than this one.

This, this piddling, frustrating, tiny little series of monstrous vignettes…I HATE it. I despise it. I can’t STAND it. AAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!

…what comes next?

Postscript: If you publish this, I will take a horrible revenge upon you. Possibly several.

Yours very, very truly.

The Editors
