Patience.
If there’s one thing a clock knows,it’s patience.
You absolutely, positively do not want to know how Grandfather, a tall, fat, jolly man like a biker Santa Claus, was stuffed into the clock. Nor will we tell you whether he was dead or alive at the time.
Grandfather clocks are out of fashion, but the littlest winds it sometimes; he can climb inside easily, and at his age, everything has an odd smell.
Someday, someoneou’ adult, or at least someone who’s had a chance to live a bit more life than his grandson, will open the door.
The Clock, and/or He who is in it, if you make a distinction, recognizes the likely consequences of his planned actions.
He is prepared to burn.
We don’t agree with what he seems to do. And we think he may wait a long time. But we agree here:
For that which matters to us, we, too, are not afraid to burn.
