Here’s why I have one:

You know, it’s really difficult to get engagement on social media. It’s difficult to find readers.

I eventually put up a Patreon with the thought that people who would like to see more of my work would probably enjoy doing so in a format where (unlike, say, Facebook or Twitter) if you follow me, you’ll actually see when I put up new things. And I can play around with more kinds of content than work well on this blog.

While I sometimes use content I’ve already posted here, it’s almost always updated a good bit. I post both here and there every day.

The majority of the Patreon is free. I’m happy to have readers. If you want to pay for it monthly, it’s between $1 and $5; it’s intentionally as inexpensive as possible.

I send out infrequent (about once a month) emails to my writing list; I try to keep the emails quite short and (hopefully) interesting. You can sign up here.
